A beautifully intricate building with a simplistic restoration and redesign for modern working, living and socialising.

The over-arching design approach that defines the re-development of London Road Fire Station is one of minimum intervention in the repair and replacement of significant elements of this historic building.

Careful consideration and empathy has been ensured in all elements including the conservation of original features including the slate roof, timber, brickwork, stone and tiles.

This is design for function not necessarily fashion. Making useable environments of the historic features. Simplicity is an important factor and this will be at the forefront of London Road Fire Station in the future.

We have chosen to keep the interior design and configuration as simple as possible in order to create a similar experience to that which the previous residents and workers spent so long fostering. Many of the main rooms have been retained, the work and live spaces will still be configured in much the same way as when they were actively used from 1906 to 1986.
